The NDTA was incorporated in Washington, D.C. in 1944. As an educational, non-profit, worldwide organization, the NDTA is uniquely equipped to combine the transportation industry’s manpower and skills with the expertise of those in government and the military to achieve the mutual objective of a strong responsive transportation capability for the United States. The NDTA links all segments of the transportation industry in its role as a worldwide transportation association with over 8,000 members in 31 countries. With 83 chapters around the globe, the NDTA is supported by the majority of the most influential transportation and related services companies in the world. NDTA chapters extend over the length and breadth of the United States, as well as overseas in Europe, Asia, and Central America. The NDTA is active in assisting state, city, and local governments, when requested to do so, in planning transportation for domestic emergencies. As a leading member of the industry-government partnership, NDTA has five National committees: Military Airlift, Military Sealift, Surface Transportation, Passenger Travel Services, and Information Technology. These committees address issues, programs, trends, policies, and other matters affecting the government and industry transportation resulting in significant findings and solutions to major transportation problems and improvements throughout the industry. |
